Here’s how to have your own personal Day of Thunder
|
How to Sign Up
Owners clubs for most performance cars run Driver's Ed days, and many allow
owners of other makes to participate, too. To find an event in your area, you
can Google the address of your local owners club; you can also check for club
events on the website of a nearby racetrack. The fee for Lime Rock's DE
Day, $130, is typical.
What You'll Need
Most clubs require a helmet. You can buy one at a local auto-racing/sports-car
equipment store or online. Plan to spend $250 or more.
What Your Car Will Need
A brief but thorough tech inspection will ensure its safety and good mechanical
condition. Some clubs run tech checks at the track; others require an approved
mechanic to sign off the car beforehand.
