Human Rights Campaign (HRC)

America's largest gay and lesbian advocacy organization, HRC lobbies Congress, provides campaign support to candidates, and educates the public on a variety of issues. The website's Aging section and Marriage section include many fact sheets and resources. The site also has information on elections and Members of Congress.

Lesbian and Gay Aging Issues Network (LGAIN)

A constituent group of the nonprofit American Society on Aging, LGAIN works to raise awareness about concerns of older LGBT people. The website's Recommended Resources section contains links to a broad range of books, reports, periodicals, fact sheets, websites, listservs, audiotapes, and videos. The Website Guide links to organizations around the world, fact sheets, articles, and more.

National Gay and Lesbian Task Force

This national organization works for civil rights of LGBT people. Its website has sections on many issues, including Aging, and the 158-page report Outing Age: Public Policy Issues Affecting Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Elders (PDF).

Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG)

Visitors to the website of this national organization can learn about the issues, help themselves understand their loved ones, and find local chapters nationwide.

Senior Action in a Gay Environment (SAGE)

A social service and advocacy organization focused on older LGBT people, SAGE has affiliate groups around the country. See the 25-page LGBT Senior Services Directory (PDF format) for providers of programs and services, as well as national, state, and local organizations.
